The Blizzard Brigade
Agnes Courty
Her design was inspired by more doll photos I had collected. Her braids were intended to start at the exact top of her scalp where the center part begins, but it's hard to remember that while sketching her. She was also inspired by Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables.
Like Ivy, her eye style was also changed to be irritatingly cute. I wanted to show that Agnes is a younger NPC than even Ivy, so she acts more like a child, even more than Basil does.
To the right is Agnes' everyday outfit. It's also another design I dug up from years of doll fashion designs. I didn't expect Agnes to be a comedic character, but she came out more expressive than I was expecting.

This is Harpoon Sailor. At the time that I was designing Agnes' magic item transformation, I was watching two anime- Go! Princess Precure and Kantai Collection. I feel like her ensemble was a product of these two influences. I also have plenty of references of cute frilly children's bikini's that fit with the nautical theme. I was worried that people would visually fixate on potential sexual elements of the design and complain, but I haven't heard any negative feedback thus far. I originally wanted her uniform to be black and yellow, to contrast with Ivy's transformation, but it didn't flatter the design at all.
In the original livNPC outlines, during the finale battle, Anges was described as utilizing a large stationary weapon in her battle against Violet and Cassandra. As suggested by the item title name, her weapon is a harpoon. |
Giselle McFadden
Giselle was created during the time of the old school story concept, when I was working on a subplot where characters were having trouble distinguishing Marie from Giselle because they looked alike from behind. During the MMORPG revision of the story line, I opted for making her look more like Marie in the face. McFadden was the name of the main street near my very first family home. I had initially intended her to be a soft and delicate personality, but she ended up becoming a powerhouse diva.
This is The Queen of Honeycomb Hive. I've always had a love for Bee fashion motifs and I used to have an enormous collection of bee inspired outfits that I gave to my sister recently for her bug and flower fashion collection.
In the original livNPC outlines, during the finale battle, Giselle was described as wearing a helmet and bodysuit in her battle against Violet and Cassandra. I had imagined something space-themed with lots of heavy machinery, but I didn't have enough interest in mecha motifs to pull off such a design. This costume comes with archery weaponry, but it's a wonder how she'll be able to shoot with such long nails. |
HarboUr Katella
He is named after two streets that intersect near Disneyland. I came to think of Katella as home when I moved to Stanton in 2013. His design was inspired by Akira Touya from Hikaru no Go. I wanted him to bare a serious expression while also being a social and friendly person. Harbour is definitely a stay-at-home Dad type.
This is Dark Judge Anubis. I had developed an interest in Anubis during high school- in fact DarkJudgeAnubis was one of my usernames at the time. I had, during that time, designed many Anubis inspired outfits, but I failed to keep any of them on file.
In the original livNPC outlines, during the finale battle, Harbour was described as having Ninja like skills in his battle against Violet and Cassandra. I wasn't married to the idea of illustrating him a Ninja costume, I was more fascinated with the idea of making him some kind of Arabian Assassin attire. During brainstorming, the Anubis concept was resurrected for this battle. The headdress detaches at the gold headband on the top of the mask. Because this is a rough concept design, the Keffiyeh design is inconsistent on both Harbour and his mask. |
